My Foodie Experiments: Bacon Drop Biscuits from Yummy Magazine

If you are a foodie or a cooking enthusiast then for sure you have come across Yummy Magazine or browsed through its pages. One day, I was leafing through the pages of this yummy magazine when I found this recipe for Bacon Drop Biscuits. I looked over the ingredients and found that they were easy to look for and easy to find so tonight, I went and baked myself some. They came out really delish, they are best served warm and they will really be great appetizers before dinner meals. They are savory biscuits which are crisp on the outside and soft in the inside.

Below is the recipe…

Total preparation time: 45 minutes
Baking Time: 15 minutes or more depending on your oven temperature

Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tbsps baking powder
1/4 tbsp baking soda
75 grms cold butter, cubed
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup bacon, cooked, drained and finely chopped
3/4 cup grated Gruyere cheese ( I wasn’t able to find this so used Eden cheese instead)

Preheat your oven to 425’F. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar and salt. Using a food processor or blender, cut in the butter. Mixture should resemble that of coarse crumbs. Don’t allow the butter to melt. Add in sour cream and mix in the blender again until the dough holds together. Fold in the bacon and cheese then drop the mixture into your baking sheet by heaping tablespoonfulls. Bake until they are golden brown for about 15 minutes or more depending on your oven and serve while warm.

It was a hit with the family. They loved it and we all thought it would make a great appetizer or something to tide the hunger over.

Happy Cooking Friends! 🙂
